Abstract | A new magnetless axial-field flux-switching DC (AF-FSDC) machine is proposed and implemented into the in-wheel motor drive for electric vehicles (EVs). By applying the radial part for torque production, the proposed machine can provide satisfactory torque density for the typical EV systems. Particularly, the proposed machine can inherently offer three major operations modes to fulfill the requirements of the EV applications. Upon the support of the 3D finite element method (3D-FEM), the key machine performances can be calculated and thoroughly analyzed. |
