Abstract | Mindfulness is a scientifically proven skill for improving one's mind and well-being. It originated from ancient contemplative wisdom, but most modern Mindfulness-based interventions and curricula are secular, scientific, and evidence-based. Katherine Chen, is a sociolinguist and linguistic anthropologist. She serves as an Associate Professor of Applied Linguistics and the Director of the English Language Centre at the University of Macau. Additionally, she holds the position of Honorary Associate Professor of English at the School of English, University of Hong Kong. An alumna of the University of Michigan, Dr. Chen is a proud former Barbour Scholar. She earned her PhD and MA in Linguistics. Her gradschool experience informs her current research and teaching which is centered on exploring mindfulness through both practice and academic study, with a focus on mindfulness skills that enhance resilience and mental well-being among graduate students. |
