Other Abstract | The development of the discipline of Sociology of Education in the Macao region has its own unique characteristics. Under the influence of colonial governance and geographical location, Macao has always assumed the role of a "transit station" from the past to the present and, therefore, reflects a "fluid" and "non-linear" development in the process of social development. The development of educational sociology also presents a "fragmented" and "discontinuous" state. Teacher education is the carrier for the development of the educational sociology discipline. Reviewing teacher education curricula shows that most institutions do not have a consistent view of educational sociology, and its courses are randomly adjusted, substituted, and deleted. Educational sociology has changed from its past important position in teacher education curricula to a now optional and marginalised status. |
