Abstract | The benefits of ultrasonic vibration assisted metal forming are commonly reported in the literature, more specifically, forming force reduction and surface finish improvements, dimensional accuracy enhancement and, in some cases, improved formability. However, recreating similar testing conditions to explore its influence on the formability of different materials is not a simple task, and the information available is, somehow, limited compared to other beneficial aspects. This study comprises in the finite element analysis and experimental tests with an optimized geometry for tensile test to explore the influence of ultrasonic vibration on the formability of thin sheets of SUS316L stainless steel. |
