Abstract | In the present study, the artificial Neural Network (ANN) algorithm was applied to forecast the daily averaged PM10 concentrations in Macau. PM10 is a collective name used to describe the particles with an aerodynamic size of not greater than 10 um. It is chosen to be the target species for prediction since it is the most dominant air pollutant in Macau. The network architecture used in this study was the Mutilayer Perceptron (MLP) with on input layer, one hidden layer and one output layer. The input layer included the daily averaged PM10 concentration of the previous day, and the meteorological conditions including the wind speed, the wind direction and the amount of precipitation on the day of prediction….. |
