Abstract | A quantitative detection method based on the terahertz absorption spectra was developed to analyze solid mixture. Specifically mixtures of anhydrous theophylline and lactose monohydrate were analyzed experimentally. Samples with known compositions were used to calibrate the system which was then used to measure the theophylline and lactose concentrations with average errors of 5.39% and 6.91%, respectively. With lactose as an unknown component, the absorption peak was fitted with the Lorentzian lineshape and a polynomial. The theophylline concentrations calculated using the peak intensity had an average error of 6.64%. These results demonstrate that the system can be used to quantitatively analyze mixture components based on the characteristic information in terahertz spectra for quality control applications. |
