Abstract | The paper will first review the concept of organizational learning through the information processing perspective. It is argued that the contingency approach of organizing neglects the internal dynamics of the firm to cope with environmental complexities and uncertainties. Through the discussions of several alternative forms of organizational structure, the contributions of individual members and team learning towards the organizational learning cycle are stressed as a prerequisite for effective organizational learning. The organization should be structured in a way to facilitate individual as well as organizational learning. |
