Abstract	The main focus of Eduardo Mayone Dias’ chronicles has been the everyday life of the Portuguese community in the United States of America. Taking account the theoretical contributions of Michel de Certeau, Henri Lefebvre, Avtar Brah and Stuart Hall among others, this article will analyse how Mayone Dias observes the transposition of various Portuguese traditions to the space of immigration and the way these and other everyday activities are delineated as a foundation for the identity construction of immigrants in the diaspora space.
