Traditional Chinese medicines (TCMs) have been attracting more and more attention in the health industry, due to their superior therapeutic effects and mild adverse health effects. However, the complex multicomponent system of TCMs leads to uncertain curative mechanisms. Quality control is crucial to ensure their safety and efficacy, which is also beneficial to understand their chemical characters and action mechanisms. Liquid chromatography (LC) is considered as one of the most powerful analytical techniques in quality control of TCMs. LC applications in this field between 2010 and 2016 have been summarized and discussed in this chapter, which help to illustrate the current status and perspectives of LC in the quality control of TCMs.
