OBJECTIVE: To compare the methods for determination of flavonoids in Herba Epimedii. METHODS: Fifteen flavonoids in Herba Epimedii were determined by HPLC, UPLC and CZE, respectively. And the separation, sensitivity, precision, repeatability, recovery and the contents of investigated compounds determined by the three methods were compared. RESULTS: Analysis time of the three methods were UPLC < CZE < HPLC. The linearity of CZE was worse than those of HPLC and UPLC, and the linear range of CZE was narrow. UPLC and CZE were more sensitive than HPLC. There were no significant difference among precision, repeatability and recovery of the three methods. The contents of investigated compounds determined by HPLC and UPLC were similar, while those determined by CZE were higher. CONCLUSION: HPLC, UPLC and CZE had their advantages and shortages, respectively. But the contents of investigated compounds determined by CZE were obviously higher than those determined by HPLC and UPLC, which should be further investigated.
