Abstract | Electrical resistivity is a nondestructive testing (NDT) method, which shows continuously the physical and chemical behaviors in each hydration stage and reflects the microstructure characteristics or transport properties of the cement matrix. In this letter, a self-developed embedded sensor is investigated and applied to predict the compressive strength of cement paste by the electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. The compressive strength prediction model is presented as the function of early compressive strength and electrical resistivity within 24 h. It demonstrated that the electrical resistivity can be taken as an equivalent index to evaluate the compressive strength. This self-developed embedded sensor could be applied in the health monitoring system for smart buildings. |
