Abstract | Eyes are the visual organ of human being. In our language, there are a number of words related to vision, while the extended meanings of eyes are various. As eyes are the images often used by Surrealist poets, this essay focuses on the “eyes” in Luo Fu’s poems. Since the author has yet to read Luo Fu’s collections of which the number is more than 20, the poems involved in the discussion are limited and this essay is just an initial trial to the topic. In Luo Fu’s poems, eyes are like the windows of the body which link the outer and the inner worlds and reflect various emotions. They are also the means to remove the hindrance caused by the body. Since eyes cannot observe themselves, “looking at mirror” is also dealt with in this paper. |
