Abstract

This article examines the recent China’s practices in the use of mediation and arbitration in consumer disputes. The success of reconciliation will depend on the good will and the conduct of the parties. On the other hand, mediation depends fundamentally on the mediator’s intervention. There is a need to modify the current legal system, so that mediation and arbitration play a bigger important role in balancing the demands of consumption in China.
