Abstract | This paper presents a 6.78-MHz regulating rectifier for wireless powering. The receiver efficiency is enhanced and the die area is reduced by achieving both AC-DC rectification and DC-DC regulation in one single stage. Different from the recent relatively slow multi-cycle pulse-width modulation techniques, the real-time hysteretic control technique together with the proposed current-wave modulation (CWM) achieves much faster load-transient response for the rectifier. Fabricated in a 0.18-μm CMOS process, the proposed rectifier outputs a 3.3-V regulated voltage and a 2-W maximum power with a peak efficiency of 92.14%. An instant load-transient response is observed for a load step between 12mA and 600mA. |
