Abstract

In this paper, a design method of radiation pattern reshaping for the TM 12 mode is proposed. The working principle is at first demonstrated by far-field calculation and equivalent array model. It indicates that, by reducing factors W/λ and n, the radiation pattern of TM 12 mode can be successfully reshaped into the broadside one without any sidelobe. Then, by combining this mode with the TM 10 mode, the presented method is very suitable for the dual-band or wideband applications. Finally, a dual-band prototype is designed, manufactured and tested. The simulated and measured results are found in reasonable agreement, validating the effectiveness of the presented method.
