Other Abstract

Building on the theoretical framework of deontic justice, we develop a conceptual model linking employees’ perception of overall justice to their performance of pro-environmental behaviors with prosocial motivation as the underlying mechanism. Specifically, we elaborate why and how employees’ justice perception would trigger their prosocial motivation, which in turn lead to their pro-environmental behaviors. We also explain how individuals’ moral identity moderates this relationship. The present conceptual model sheds new light on linking organizational justice to employee environmental sustainable behaviors. In addition, it provides important theoretical and managerial implications to our current understanding of organizational justice and prosocial motivation.
