Abstract | Building on the theoretical perspectives of social exchange theory and work alienation, we develop a conceptual model linking employees' challenge/hindrance stressors to their constructive/destructive voices. We propose perceived organizational support as the underlying mechanism linking challenge stressor and constructive voice, and work alienation as another mediating pathway linking employees’ hindrance stressor and destructive voice. Furthermore, proactive personality exerts its moderating influences on both mediating mechanisms. The conceptual model provides important theoretical and managerial implications to our current understanding of stressors-voice relationships. |
