Consuming Value: The Politics of Production and Consumption

Abstract

This article examines production and consumption within a global context by establishing country level typologies of production economies (where most economic actors are involved in creating value) and consumption economies (where most economic actors are involved in consuming value). These typologies are used to explain a means by which value is transferred from the global South to the global North.
