Abstract | This paper proposes an image-based approach for animating the painting procedure of Chinese ink painting. For a given painting image, it can be first decomposed into a set of brush strokes based on Chinese ink painting knowledge. And then its vectorization model with extracted trajectories can be obtained. Finally, the painting can be animated dynamically stroke by stroke with real-time rendering techniques for guaranteeing the same ink effects as the original. This result is useful for both the masterpiece appreciation and study of Chinese ink paintings. |
