Abstract

With the growing concerns on price fluctuation and depletion of petroleum resources and global warming, there is fast growing interest in hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs) globally. Thus, it is a pressing need for researchers to develop energy efficient devices for various kinds of HEVs, including micro, mild and full hybrids. In this paper, an emerging energy efficient technology will be investigated and developed, a single electric machine with integrated starter-generator (ISG) and boosted-propeller (BP). A full/power hybrid will be developed utilizing the ISG+BP by converting from a scooter of 50cm3 displacement, and replacing the bulky flywheel, belts, starter and alternator/generator.
