AbstractThe economy of Macao is highly dependent on the gaming industry. The gaming and casino services run 24 hours a day, which implies that most of the employees are shift workers. Since the availability of transport modes is different during the day, a shift worker may use different modes to commute at different shifts. The purpose of this paper is to investigate the travel characteristics of the shift workers. The questionnaire is designed to understand the trip purpose, mode, and the cost of travel for the trips before and after each shift of the work. In this paper, we will present the latest findings of the survey. The travel behaviour will be described in descriptive statistic. The results of this study can help to understand the travel pattern at different work shifts, and help the transport planners as well as the employers to develop their transportation policy.
