| Abstract | In the Republic of Equatorial Guinea (REG), Spanish, French, and Portuguese are official languages. Additionally, the population also uses African languages (Fang, Pichi, Bube, Fa d'Ambô, among others). With rural-urban migration increasing, languages of different ethnic groups have been restricted to their traditional territories. Alongside Spanish, in recent years, Fang and Pichi have become the most spoken languages, especially in urban settings by an ever-growing young population. Here, our goal is to describe and analyze the linguistic situation in the country, the maintenance or obsolescence of REG’s languages, and the role of the official languages (Spanish, French, and Portuguese). |
| Other Abstract | Na República da Guiné Equatorial (RGE), o espanhol, o francês e o português são línguas oficiais. Além disso, línguas africanas (fang, pichi, bube, fa d’Ambô, entre outras) também são usadas pela população. Mais da metade da população do país tem menos de 20 anos e, com o aumento da migração campo-cidade, as línguas dos diferentes grupos étnicos têm ficado restritas a seus territórios tradicionais, ao passo que o fang, o pichi e o espanhol têm expandido seu uso no dia a dia e se tornado as línguas majoritárias no país, graças, sobretudo, à presença nos centros urbanos e à população jovem. Nosso objetivo aqui é descrever e analisar a situação linguística na RGE, destacando o crescimento do pichi e do fang, a sobrevivência ou obsolescência das demais línguas e o papel das línguas oficiais (o espanhol, o francês e o português). |
