AbstractIn this paper we present an improved non-photorealistic rendering method that automatically generates colorized line drawing from an input image. Based on flow based difference-of-Gaussians filtering which uses the edge tangent flow to strengthen the edge direction, the gray line drawing is generated while the obvious features are preserved well. As an improvement, we integrate color information into the gray line drawing which keeps another important component of images to visual cognition beside edges information, and aperture filling technique is also used to strength the coherent line effects, which is inspired by the labyrinth algorithm, making the final outcome more vivid and fantastic. The experiments validate our method's effectiveness. © 2011 IEEE.
