Abstract | In [\emph{G. H. Hu and N. Y. Yi, An adaptive finite volume solver for steady Euler equations with non-oscillatory $k$-exact reconstruction, Journal of Computational Physics 312, 235-251, 2016}], a non-oscillatory $k$-exact reconstruction method is proposed towards the high-order finite volume methods for steady Euler equations, which successfully demonstrates the high-order behavior in the simulations. However, the degeneracy of the numerical accuracy of the approximate solutions along the curved boundaries can be observed obviously. In this paper, the issue is resolved by the non-uniform rational B-spline (NURBS) method, i.e., with given discrete description of the computational domain, an approximate NURBS curve is reconstructed to provide quality quadrature information along the curved boundary. The advantages on using NURBS include that i). both the numerical accuracy of the approximate solutions and convergence rate of the numerical methods are improved simultaneously, and ii). the NURBS curve generation is independent from other modules in the numerical framework, which makes its application very flexible. It is also shown in the paper that, with introducing more elements in the reconstruction patch for the boundary element along the outer normal direction, the convergence of the Newton iteration can be significantly improved. The numerical examples confirm the above features very well. |
