Abstract | Collaborative consumption (CC) has long been a central research topic in the business and management fields (Kim and Jin, 2020). Research on CC has garnered significant attention. However, there are insufficient comprehensive reviews have been conducted within the business and management fields that provide an in-depth understanding of CC studies and their implications for future research. Given that CC plays are important in shaping consumption development and sustainable practices (Małecka et al., 2022; Toni et al., 2018), we aim to address the gaps in research by summarizing the imperative analyzed results from the current research, while also identifying potential directions for future research, such as the gaps including areas with limited study or areas where prior research has not provided a full understanding of CC's role in consumption development and sustainable practices, the comprehensiveness of previous reviews and a need for a more comprehensive overview of CC research, and the gaps in terms of guiding researchers and scholars by identifying potential future research directions within the field of CC. The objective is to present a systematic knowledge map of CC in the academic literature. This knowledge will provide new insights into the domain of CC and help inform future studies. Specifically, we pose the following questions: This study aims to answer the research questions: 1) What are the subdomains of CC in further research? 2) What are the ‘hotspots’ and research frontiers in the CC domain? 3) What promising future research directions emerge from this domain? To achieve this, we conducted a systematic analysis within the domain, presenting a unique exploration that significantly contributes to CC research. |
