Abstract | The concepts of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) have gained significant attention in public and scholarly discussions, with a focus on the challenges faced by people with disabilities in areas such as employment and healthy living. And the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) in corporate and societal spheres is rapidly evolving, offering advancements in recruitment, employee management, and customer engagement. However, there has been little research focused on the interaction between AI and employees with disabilities specifically through the lens of consumers. Likewise, existing research has examined the pros and cons of employing individuals with disabilities from an organizational perspective, consideration of this matter from the viewpoint of consumers remains notably scarce. In this study, we will address the aforementioned research limitations by examining consumers’ perception of common human identity. To be specific, we explored whether consumers’ perceived common human identity varies when they receive products or services from employees with disabilities compared to those without disabilities. |
