Abstract | Automatic edge detection in complex background is one of the most difficult problems in pattern recognition. Wavelet transform can be used as a powerful tool to extract singularities of images. The 2D rotational continuous wavelet transform has an additional advantage that can provide directional features of images. The most difficult step in application, however, is determination of the parameters. In this paper, we present a mathematical analysis for the parameter characteristics. The principles for choosing the parameters are provided in detail. Effectiveness of the proposed approach is shown by the experiments with MIT Face Database. |
