“Isle of Forgotten Sins” (acrylic on canvas, 2022) is a painting inspired by the 1943 film directed by Edgar G. Ulmer. The film is set in the South Pacific and full of genre tropes around night life, crime and sunken treasures. Living in Macao all these years I’ve had to confront similar fictions and consider all the ‘forgotten sins’ that still haunt this little island archipelago.
