Abstract | Two main choices of the power amplifier (PA) for wireless power transfer (WPT) are Class-D and Class-E PAs. In this chapter, process selection and power loss analysis for high efficiency PAs are discussed first, followed by the discussion on zero-voltage (or zero-current) switching techniques for switching loss reduction. Operation principles and design considerations of both Class-D and Class-E PAs are then discussed. Finally, comparisons are made between these two selections. |
