| Abstract | Synthetic drug abuse has become an increasingly serious problem among Macao adolescents． Ｒeversing the trend of the increase has been a major focus of the government agencies responsible for drug use prevention and treatment． Based on the social learning theory and availability － proneness theory of drug abuse，the current study employed systematic sampling and analytic methods to investigate the effects of partygoing，drug using peers，drug availability，and drug use attitudes on the probability of synthetic drug use among Macao students． The results indicated that students who were male，attended parties more frequently，had easier access to synthetic drugs，held more tolerant attitudes toward synthetic drugs and had more drug using friends were more likely to use synthetic drugs． Policy implications of the findings with regard to the prevention of synthetic drug use among Macao elementary and secondary school students are discussed． |
