Abstract | In the last decades, universities and other entities have debated how to describe and value different languages to preserve multilingualism and the world's diversity. In addition, in the case of the diversity of pluricentric languages, such as Portuguese, a political struggle has also been waged, but between different varieties. There is a process of devaluation of certain varieties to others that maintains a colonial matrix hierarchy. Sociolinguistic actions need to be taken to deal with this phenomenon which is also predatory as it also threatens linguistic diversity. In this sense, in the multilingual context of Macau, we would like to discuss the place and dynamics between different varieties of Portuguese in the social and educational spheres. We defend the idea of a multilingualism in Portuguese that can be valued through the deconstruction of the concept of “center”, contained in the term "pluricentric", to adopt a radical decentralization. |
