| Abstract | The book addresses the issue of the metaphysical nature of fiction, its distinction and its continuity with reality. Starting from the analysis of the "unity of experience", that is, the uniform experience we have of the real and of the fictional, this work discusses fiction from the point of view of both aestheticians and philosophers of language. The four chapters constitute a dialogue with the contemporary debate on the ontological status of fiction, while offering a perspective sensitive to the problem of the criterion for discriminating between fiction and reality. |
