AbstractIn this paper, a new method called variation method is proposed for the moment evaluation of displacements of structures with the Young's modulus being a stochastic field. Compared with conventional methods, e.g., perturbation method, the computational cost for the proposed method can be reduced significantly for the moment evaluation of displacement vector. The proposed method is neither based on perturbation procedure nor Neumann expansion procedure, but on some new quantities and new procedure.
