Abstract | Nonlinear coupled pitch-roll ship motion has been widely investigated in the case of harmonic excitation in the past decades. Nayfeh and co-workers used the method of multiple scales to extensively study the nonlinear coupled pitch-roll ship motion (Nayfeh, Mook and Marshall [1], Nayfeh, Mook and Marshall [2]). As stochastic excitation is concerned, the nonlinear coupled pitch-roll ship motion is scarcely addressed. Some researches were conducted on the ship roll motion in recent years. Er and Iu [3] developed exponential-polynomial closure (EPC) method to obtain the probability density function (PDF) solution of nonlinear random ship roll motion under Gaussian white noise. The EPC method was later extended to the same problem under Poisson white noise. |
