Abstract | In Macao, the Internet cafe has recently become very popular in college, secondary and primary school students; it also turns into a part of their daily lives. Many young people find that the Internet cafe is a good place to meet the friend and shares the fun of Internet with the others. As everybody knows that the Internet cafe is opened for public and many teenagers like to stay there. However, the youth are usually immature, so gangsters will easily mislead them there. In this paper, a study on the impact of the Internet cafe on Macao youth is presented. The historical development, services provided and classification of the Internet cafe are firstly introduced. The impact of the Internet cafe on Macao youth is then analyzed point-by-point, and some positive and negative comments are made with respective to the study, the life and the morality. Potential strategies for improving the development of the Internet cafe and guiding the proper use of it for Macao youth are also addressed. The recommendations can serve as references for Macao government and relevant authorities. |
