In 1533, Martin Luther wrote the text "Summarien über die Psalmen und Ursachen des Dolmetschens", in order to support his translation of the Psalms (Bible), made directly from Hebrew into German. The Sumarien clearly clarify Luther's translational views and ultimately reveal his theological hermeneutics. This chapter is a translation of Luther's text by Raquel Abi-Samara, under the title  “Comentários sobre os Salmos e os motivos da tradução“. (Comments on the Psalms and the reasons for the translation). Translation from German into Portuguese, with part of the text being translated directly from Gothic German to Portuguese. Abi-Samara's research relied on the advice of the German theologian Bruno Fuchs, especially in the transcription of Gothic German into contemporary German, and also with the support of the Hebraist Rivka Elyoglu and her consultation of the interpreted Bible by M.D. Kasuto and A.S. Hartum (Tel'Aviv, Yavneh 1969) for information on the Hebrew terms commented on by Martin Luther.
