Abstract | Using a two-wave panel design, this study examined the relationship between job satisfaction and voice behavior among newcomers. The results showed that job satisfaction had a U-shaped curvilinear relationship with promotive voice, but a linear relationship with prohibitive voice. The moderating effects of the prosocial motive for voice were also found. The prosocial motive strengthened the positive relationship between job satisfaction and promotive voice at high levels of job satisfaction, and weakened their negative relationship at low levels of job satisfaction. The positive relationship between job satisfaction and prohibitive voice was significant only when prosocial motive was high. |
