Abstract | This paper looks into the effects of thermal exposure on mechanical/corrosion properties of a duplex stainless steel to temperatures under 500C. It has been found that the duplex stainless steel is strengthened after exposure and its corrosion properties are not significantly degraded. These observations are contrary to the effects of thermal exposure on ordinary steel reinforcing bars. It is suggested that duplex stainless steels are good options as concrete reinforcements. |
