It is my great honor to be invited to write an editorial for the 35th anniversary of Computer-aided Civil and Infrastructure Engineering (CACAIE). I am probably among the most junior among the group who are writing an editorial to celebrate the occasion (I received my PhD from Caltech in 2002) but I have rather long experience with the journal of Computer-aided Civil and Infrastructure Engineering(CACAIE) and Prof. Adeli. My relationship with CACAIE started from my submission of two papers to the special issue on structural health monitoring in 2006. Afterwards, I became a reviewer and a member of Society of CACAIE after submitting the well-known Conscientious Reviewer form. Meanwhile, a fascinating journey had started for me although I was not aware at that time. I reviewed papers for over 100 journals in different disciplines but CACAIE gave me a unique experience. The reason is very simple: the unique editor in chief, Prof. Adeli! I am not going to repeat the well-known metrics of CACAIE and the remark-able achievements by Prof. Adeli. Instead, I am going to focus on some particular stories or experience I personally encountered.
