Abstract

Virtual exhibition gains more and more attention in these years, however, the solutions to build the virtual booth management systems require high cost and technical knowledge, which may be an obstacle to the development of virtual exhibition. Accordingly, a new method to implement virtual booth management system (Boodle) is introduced in this paper, which is developed based on Moodle. In this paper, the benefits of using Moodle to develop Boodle will be illustrated. Exhibition organizers can have a better management on the users and booths; exhibitors can design their own booths and manage their potential customers easily without any technical skills; visitors can access the virtual booths on the Internet and communicate with interested exhibitors. Boodle takes advantages of Web 2.0 technology to form an effective and collaborative virtual exhibition platform for exhibition organizers, exhibitors and visitors, the users can create the contents by themselves. Finally, the experiment results show that the new method is highly feasible, and more plugins can be developed in the future to enhance the functionality of Boodle.
