Abstract	潮州方言山攝層次分布復雜,歷時演變顯著。文章通過層次分析法,比較19世紀羅馬字語料和今天方言現象發現,山攝層次演變的趨勢為異讀類型與轄字減少,且因層次競爭與語音演變并行,山攝晚近文讀層嚴重磨損。這種層次演變與文讀層傳播途徑中斷相關,在與潮州方言在語用環境和方言定位相似的東南沿海諸方言中,具有類型學意義。
