Investigation on the probabilistic solutions of random vibrations of geometrically nonlinear truss structures

AbstractThe objectives proposed in this project have been achieved. Besides the research objectives of this project about the random vibrations of geometrically nonlinear truss structures, under the support for this project, the researches on the nonlinear vibrations and random vibrations of other structures, such as the nonlinear vibrations of cable-moored structures, the random vibrations of cable structures, cable-moored structures and beam structures have also been investigated. The new methods named parameter-splitting-perturbation method and constrained parameter-splitting-perturbation method have been proposed for analyzing the strongly nonlinear dynamical systems. Two PhD students were supported by this project. One of them graduated and was employed by Central South China University (985 and double first-class university, ranked 29 in 2020 among the universities in mainland China). The other one has graduated in July 2020 and is working as RA in UM for working on more problems and preparing more publications. 10 journal papers, 2 book chapters published by Springer and 6 conference or symposium papers have been published or accepted while the expected research production is 5 journal papers and 9 conference papers. In addition, the PI gave three invited talks in the symposium of IUTAM (International Union of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics), Asian Workshop on Theoretical and Applied Mechanics’2019, and International Summer School jointly organized by the Solid mechanics Committee of Chinese Mechanics Society and the Faculty of Astronautics at Harbin Institute of Technology, respectively.
